What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy uses the state of
hypnosis to help overcome negative patterns of
behaviour. If you want to change the ways you think,
feel or behave, hypnotherapy can help you achieve this.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of mind that we all
experience every day, as we wake up in the morning and again as
we fall asleep at night. It feels as though your body is asleep,
while your mind is awake. In hypnosis, you’re aware of what’s
happening around you, and you’re fully in control.
How does hypnotherapy
work?
Our subconscious mind has a powerful
influence on our behaviour. When we repeatedly behave in a
particular way, this becomes ingrained in our subconscious mind.
This can create difficulties when we want to change our
behaviour, making it difficult to change. Hypnotherapy seeks to
overcome this by giving suggestions to the subconscious mind
while in the state of hypnosis. Once we have re-programmed our
subconscious mind, it can actually help us to change our
behaviour, instead of reinforcing old patterns. In this way,
hypnotherapy enables us to replace old, negative patterns of
behaviour with new, positive patterns of behaviour, making it
easier for us to behave in the way we want to.
What can hypnotherapy
help with?
Hypnotherapy can be used
in many different ways. For example:
-
It can help you
change the ways you think, feel and behave.
-
It can help you
replace negative patterns with positive patterns.
-
It can help you
change the ways you respond to particular situations.
-
It can help you to
accept situations that you cannot change.

What does hypnotherapy
involve?
At Reflections
Hypnotherapy, the first appointment focuses on trying to
understand what you are currently experiencing and any possible
contributing factors. You will be asked a lot of questions so
that I can understand your situation the best I can. I will
introduce you to the state of hypnosis, and you will have the
opportunity to ask any questions about hypnosis and how it
works. You also will be given a relaxation exercise to practice
with at home.
At the second or third
appointment you will be given a hypnotic therapy that includes
suggestions designed to deal with your specific situation. You
will also be given a hypnotic CD with these suggestions to
practice with. On average it takes 4-5
sessions to address a particular problem, although it depends on
the nature of the problem. Simple problems may be successfully
treated in 1-2 sessions. You will usually be expected to
practice with the relaxation exercise and a hypnotic CD between
appointments.
How much does it cost?
The first appointment costs $80, and further
appointments cost $60 per appointment. Payment can be made in
cash, by cheque, bank deposit or internet banking.
